Director of Marketing, Travel & Tourism
The travel and tourism, director of marketing will be required to lead the content creation, distribution and performance measurement activities for the agency. The Director of Marketing will lead the agency’s content creation, distribution, and performance measurement efforts while working closely with the Performance Marketing Director to align paid media strategies.
The role will call for working hands-on with brand managers and department leads to devise the marketing strategy, create plans for implementation, coalesce the team to execute the plan, and then measure ROI of such efforts. We are specifically looking for someone who can guide the agency’s travel and tourism practice, bringing experience and strategy to ensure that marketing campaigns highlighting destinations, hospitality organizations, hotels, and more continue to return success and remain ahead of competitors.
This role is someone who lives and breathes marketing, they are always on the lookout for industry trends, better ways to integrate and measure and are eager to bring these learnings to the team. They will collaborate with all departments within the agency to ensure cohesive and effective marketing efforts.
They will strive to continually learn the best techniques, practices and strategies for the agency and our clients by taking and maintaining a competitive level of certifications for inbound marketing, content marketing, paid media and SEO strategy.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Set the standard for quality of deliverables and lead in a way that inspires team members to deliver their best work. Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and mentorship direction to others on the marketing team. Train team members and others on owned and paid marketing best practices.
- Participate in broader strategic initiatives ensuring successful implementation and execution by modeling organizational and leadership capabilities.
- Present marketing strategies to current and potential clients, displaying enthusiasm and passion for the work.
- Actively leverage and improve established processes for the paid media, and content teams that ensure efficient procedures and drive key performance indicators for both the agency and its clients.
- Provide department leaders with ongoing status updates on campaign performance, highlighting opportunities for current and future improvement.
- Take an integrated approach to client renewal planning and collaborate with team leads to identify opportunities for incremental sales.
- Participate in the research, development, review, and approval of marketing and strategic plans for clients.
- Create effective content marketing strategies and development tactics for platforms including but not limited to campaigns, blogs, websites, and newsletters.
- Ensure the Social Media, Paid Media, and Content teams are deploying best-in-class strategies and execution of deliverables, continuously testing to improve ROI and achieving desired results.
- Oversee strategy and implementation of marketing partnership/sponsorship opportunities for the agency and on behalf of our clients.
- Agency travel to specific client locations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Has experience overseeing direct reports
- Must have excellent time management, communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Must be able to work on a multitude of projects/clients simultaneously
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in which requirements & priorities constantly change
- A self-starter with the ability to problem solve both independently and collaboratively
- Knowledge of various marketing platforms, best practices, and analytics
- Strong cross-functional and agency management experience, with the ability to take a brand and bring it to life across multiple consumer touchpoints
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 10 years of successful experience in marketing, including 5 years in a management role
- 6 or more years experience in Travel & Tourism or Destination marketing
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Prior experience working with marketing technology and automation platforms
- Experience with efficiently managing budgets
