JOB SUMMARY
The Public Relations Account Manager – Professional Services should be knowledgeable and passionate about business communications, brand positioning, and corporate storytelling and leveraging public relations to drive client business outcomes. You have a strong interest in how companies build credibility, influence decision-makers, and differentiate themselves within competitive industries. You think like a journalist, identifying angles that elevate business leaders, innovations, and market impact through timely, strategic media coverage.
You will be a key member of the team working on and managing a portfolio of B2B-focused accounts and staff members (Senior Account Executives, Account Executives, Account Coordinators, and PR interns) to ensure objectives and quality of work are met in an efficient and timely manner. Accounts cover a wide range of sectors, including technology and advanced manufacturing, financial services, real estate, and economic development.
This role requires exceptional writing skills, including the ability to craft compelling bylines, strategic media pitches, and clear, effective briefs that translate complex business topics into engaging, newsworthy stories. Candidates should demonstrate a proven ability to write with authority, precision, and creativity while maintaining strong alignment with client goals and brand voice.
You will make a strong contribution to key business objectives through a variety of external campaigns to help the agency achieve industry recognition, as well as supporting new business initiatives.
Interfacing with the client successfully is imperative in this role, developing a clear understanding of needs and expectations and establishing communications systems accordingly.
The Public Relations Account Manager – Professional Services will understand the workings and responsibilities of all agency departments, as well as mastered the skills of an account executive.
Account managers must know how to manage a team, create and implement communications plans, write media materials as well as review and improve materials created by their team, work with media and clients on story coordination, have superior writing and editing skills, be able to adapt to new reporting platforms quickly, and be extremely organized with internal and external communications. Minimum 4 years of experience with proven results.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Account Management
- Serve as the liaison between clients and agency.
- Play a key role in account activities including management, client communication, media relations and thought leadership strategy, program implementation and strategic growth.
- Manage high priority requests or issue escalation.
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships.
- Ensure strategic communications objectives tied to business, reputation, and growth goals are being met and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Provide final approval for all agency materials for delivery to clients.
- Own the creation and management of integrated communications plans that support brand positioning, reputation management, and business objectives.
- Address and manage client budgets.
Media Relations
- Actively participate in creative brainstorming sessions and offers original ideas
- Proactively work with clients and account teams to identify newsworthy angles that support client positioning, business strategy, market leadership, and credibility.
- Write and edit press releases, bylines, media advisories, pitches, talking points.
- Collaborate with PR team to secure coverage across business, trade, national, and industry-specific outlets that reach decision-makers, stakeholders, and target markets..
- Develop and execute thought leadership programs that elevate executives, subject matter experts, and company leadership.
- Develop yearly/quarterly content calendars
- Pitch, develop and maintain media relationships.
- Monitor and pitch HARO and Qwoted opportunities.
- Industry influencer, analyst, and stakeholder engagement, when applicable
- Research: past client coverage, competitor stories and analysis, pitch ideas, trends, innovative PR campaigns
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 4-5 years experience, either in-house or agency, specifically in B2B, professional services, technology, real estate/development or related sectors.
- Minimum 4-5 years experience either managing clients at a PR agency or as the PR lead on an integrated account, or being in a management role of PR in-house.
- Minimum of 4-5 years pitching and securing stories within business, trade, and industry media.”
- Demonstrated experience writing bylines or other public-facing content pieces.
- Experience using a digital project management system to traffic assignments and communicate between teams.
- Excellent client communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Agency experience is preferred.
- Experience working with executive leadership, thought leadership, corporate announcements, and reputation management/ leadership positioning
- Experience managing communications around business milestones, growth initiatives, or organizational change
- Experience leading PR while working with other teams, including social, web, content, paid media, etc.
