Social Media Specialist

Summary: The Social Media Specialist is a mid-level position within the digital
content team. The Social Media Specialist works closely with the Social Media
Coordinator and the Digital Content Manager to fulfill client needs on social media.
The Social Media Specialist will work directly with clients to execute social media
work, as well as with the public relations and creative teams to ensure smooth
running of business initiatives and campaigns.

The Social Media Specialist is responsible for maintaining and supporting an
efficient working environment for the accounts on which they are assigned to
ensure deadlines are met, caliber of work is strong and clients are satisfied with
their digital services. Assists digital team by fostering relationships with social
media clients, coordinating content for high-level accounts and managing Social
Media Coordinators as well as Social Media Interns.

Digital Departments

  • Leads problem solving efforts for social media accounts
  • Responsible for protecting and growing the agency’s relationships with its current base of social media clients
  • Facebook boosting: Boosting of Facebook and Instagram content for relevant clients, recommendations on audience and tracking of budget
  • Client communications and account management: Prompt and daily communications and interactions with clients
  • Social content development: Development of social media content for all social media channels
  • Contesting platform management: Management and understanding of
  • ShortStack, Offerpop and other contesting platforms as needed
  • Reporting and Analytics: Ability to read and pull analytics as needed and delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual reports to clients
  • Research: Research of trends, tools and campaigns through social and online media
  • Planning: Planning for social media contests and campaigns, as well as ongoing social content strategy
  • Creative and design management: Coordination with design team to bring needed visual campaign assets to life
  • Campaign development: Creation and implementation of plans to integrate client campaigns across social media

Skill Set/Knowledge Required
The Social Media Specialist should have excellent communication skills – written and
verbal – and be very organized. Building and maintaining internal and external
relationships is critical to this position. The qualifications are listed below.

  • Undergraduate degree in Journalism, PR, Advertising, Communications or Marketing
  • Proficient in social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and others as needed
  • Experienced with use of social media outlets for businesses or brands
  • Strong and concise writing skills, proficient in AP Style and editing
  • Basic design knowledge and photography skills a plus
  • Intuitive in use of digital platforms including social content schedulers, analytics tools, and monitoring tools
  • Proficient in Google Suite of products
  • Detail-oriented and exceptional editing skills
  • Works well in a dynamic and team-based environment
  • Basic knowledge of PR principles and applications of PR to social media strategy
  • Management skills and experience to coordinate with other team members
  • Experienced with digital analytics and contesting platforms, including native analytics, SproutSocial, SparkTrend, Nuvi, ShortStack and Offerpop
  • Proficient in social media advertising and capabilities to launch, monitor and report on ad campaigns across social platforms
  • Integrated marketing knowledge in implementation of campaigns to a social level
